Your vitamins and minerals
Our unique blend of scientific and naturopathic knowledge lends itself perfectly to the analysis of your vitamin deficiency or mineral deficiency or excess.
This is a problem we very often see in our clients and the consequences can be very serious. An imbalance can manifest itself in a variety of symptoms, including:
- Changes in taste
- Blood sugar imbalance, leading to cravings and over-eating
- Tiredness
What links all three?
They all stand in the way of you losing weight. Tiredness is a huge obstacle to exercise and over-eating naturally ruins any diet plan. If you’re feeling tired and finding it hard to diet, contact me without delay.
The first step to controlling your weight is therefore to overcome your mineral or vitamin deficiency and balance your levels. Make sure you have enough of each and you’ll have a much easier time shedding your excess weight and maintaining a healthy level.
Your most important vitamins and minerals

Vitamins
On the vitamin side, Vitamin B is a catalyst for many of the body’s natural reactions and a vitamin deficiency will start to inhibit those reactions. That can lead to a greater susceptibility to illness.
Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) is required for the growth and repair of tissues in the body and is essential to create collagen, an important protein. Collagen is like a binding agent that holds various bodily elements together, including blood vessels, skin, arteries and muscles.
Amino acids are another key player and deficient patients commonly suffer from illnesses like Candida and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. The amino acids are akin to ‘building blocks’ – they are necessary for a range of bodily elements, including some hormones and neurotransmitters.

Minerals
On the mineral side of things, chromium and zinc are important factors in your blood-sugar levels. Magnesium and calcium are both extremely important as well.
In fact, it has been said that the high profile of calcium has created a significant problem for many people’s magnesium levels. Too much calcium will cause the body to excrete magnesium, resulting in sometimes dangerously low levels left in the body.
Note: Of course, we test for much more than those listed above, but the aim of this page is to illustrate the importance of vitamins and minerals – not to provide a comprehensive list.
How to reintroduce a balance
Our consultations combine scientific analysis in the form of microscopy and high-powered, cutting-edge equipment with the knowledge and experience of a skilled Devon-based naturopath.
We start by accurately analysing your body’s current vitamin and mineral levels and highlighting where any deficiencies and excesses are. When this is known, we create a bespoke plan to re-introduce the balance you need. That plan will include dietary advice and recommendations, alongside appropriate supplements – all contained in an individualised report you can keep.
